Hi there, I am Elizabeth Martin, RDN
Pastry Chef turned Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I am the founder and creator of MKE Nutrition. Wisconsin is a state near and dear to my heart. While not a Wisconsinite by birth, I have lived in various parts of Milwaukee County for 25 plus years and have come to call Milwaukee my forever home.
My love for cooking started at a young age when I would spend countless weeknights and weekends with my grandmother cooking and baking for the family. Some of my most fond memories are in a little kitchen in Bay View creating family favorites such as arroz con gandules or pineapple upside down cake (my personal favorite).
As I grew older, I found myself baking and cooking for therapy and a sense of calmness. This “therapeutic cooking” would lead to a journey of curiosity and love for food and the science behind it, especially the art of baking and making pastries. This love and passion for food turned into a career that I so much enjoyed, but I knew it was not the end for me. I now understood the chemistry behind baking, but I wanted to know what happened in the body once we ate the food. In 2017, I decided to return to school for nutrition and dietetics.
Now, I am happy to be a practicing Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who is now looking to combine both passions and share them with others around me. As someone who believes that all food fits, restriction of food is not something I encourage unless medically deemed necessary. I believe that everyone should be able to enjoy ALL food, but should also understand what they are putting into their body. My mission is to help guide you towards your health and nutrition goals with the use of motivational counseling and evidence-based research without the use of restriction and the embracement that all food does fit.

I pride myself in my ability to not only help with your individual nutrition needs, but for your individual recipe and meal needs as well. I have worked in professional kitchens for over a decade and have had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best chefs in this beautiful city. While my specialty does lean towards the wonderful world of pastry arts, I am proud to bring a wide variety of savory techniques and recipes to meet your own needs and wants. While working as a Pastry Chef, I specialized in desserts that met the needs of those with nutrition and dietary restrictions ranging from Celiac’s disease to those following a Vegan lifestyle.
These experiences have helped me create a strong foundation of culinary skills and techniques as well as the ability to create recipes and meal plans for just about any want or need. Let me guide you through this nutrition journey not just through one-on-one counseling, but also through delicious and nutritionally dense food. Working with MKE Nutrition also means that dessert is ALWAYS an option.
